Chaostar Tarot Spread

We devised a tarot spread based on our unicursal octagram design.

Eight cards are placed in a very specific order so as to trace a unicursal octagram with each placement, and one final card in the middle to use as the identifier or significator (i.e. the card that represents the querent’s current circumstances or the matter at hand.) We will use the directions on a compass to describe the auras on the chaostar as houses of influence. Each of the opposing arms of the chaostar resolves one another. They are the solve et coagula or coagula et solve of each of their own opposites. They cordially encompass the malady and the remedy.

For example:

  • SE/NW (2/7) – Resolve vs. Conflicts
  • N/S (1/8) – Spirit vs. Ego
  • E/W (3/6) – Desire vs. Fear
  • SW/NE (5/4) – Dreams vs. Obstacles
  1. N – Spiritual life, synchronicities, Nature, spontaneity, sudden change, invention, rebellion, friends, groups and the group contribution, goals, the future, technology, what makes one unique, unexpected, eccentric, progressive, disruptions and interruptions, self-sabotage; Numerical Egregore of 0
  2. SE – Relationships, resolve, fertility, harmony, attraction, ease, love, pleasure, affection, gifts, social skill, wives, daughters; Numerical Egregore of 7
  3. W – Intellectual focus, communications, objectivity, awareness, thinking, expression, intellect, adaptability, dexterity, skill, alertness, messages, minors, Numerical Egregore of 8
  4. NE – Obstacles, limitations, authorities, older folks, statesmen, contraction, restriction, tradition, discipline, organization, prudence, use of judgment; Numerical Egregore of 3
